Finality's Pedigree

(9/22) Finality sets stakes record in G2 Jamaica as Velazquez-Pletcher score stakes double
Last to load into the gate and the only one of three to vie for the lead from the outside in Belmont's $200,000 Grade 2 Jamaica Handicap at a mile and an eighth on the inner turf Sunday, New York-bred FINALITY was forced three-wide and still shattered the stakes record. When he reached the stretch, the extra ground covered did not seem to matter, as the Dogwood Stable colt drove ahead to win by about a length under jockey John Velazquez in the time of 1:46 3/5, breaking the 1997 stakes record by more than two seconds.

Finality arriving at Flying Horse Farm before going to Red Rock Farm to stand:

DIXIELAND BRASS, (DIXIELAND BAND - WINDMILL GAL by GALLANT ROMEO)
Dixieland Brass passed away in 2007. He will be sorely missed by the staff at Flying Horse Farm. is the sire of graded stakes winner "NATIVE BRASS" in 1999. She won $201,604 winning the Sonoma Stakes by 12 lengths. 3 year old fillies: the "FALL DISTAFF CLASSIC" older fillies and mares: the "CANADIAN DERBY". 3 year old colts and went on to finishing second in the Grade II "MAPLE LEAF STAKES" at Woodbine. Now in training back east big things are expected of her this year. DIXIELAND BRASS is also sire of Grade I winner "DON GUIDO" and Grade II winner BRASS SCALE. Besides numerous other stakes winners and stakes horses. His reasonable 2002 fee $3,000 CDN live foal is a bargain for breeders.

MAUDLIN (FOOLISH PLEASURE - ZONTA by DR. FAGER)
Was euthanized at Flying Horse Farm on September 24, 1998. He had suffered from Cushings Disease and Laminitus. He will be best remembered for siring 3 Grade I winners PRIMAL ($1,209,530), MECKE ($2,400,000) and 1999 Eclipse Award winner BEAUTIFUL PLEASURE - winner of 3 Grade I races in 1999, including the "Breeders Cup Distaff" in November. Maudlin stood his last 4 years on Flying Horse Farm and became very close to our hearts in that time and was buried in a very special place on the farm. His last crop of foals were born in 1999.

All stallions are nominated to the Breeder's Cup and the B.C. Stallion Stakes
